Transform your engineering workflow: move faster, catch errors, and automate the paperwork eating your day.
This course introduces civil engineers to Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic, through the three fastest paths to first value. Participants learn how Claude differs from search engines and traditional chatbots, then apply the platform to realistic tasks drawn from the Maple Creek Bridge Replacement Project, a fictional three span girder bridge simulation with realistic documents, numbers, and problems. Module 1 covers Native Chat at claude.ai, including prompting fundamentals, structured reasoning, checklist generation, and the verification hierarchy that governs professional use. Module 2 covers Connectors, which let Claude read your working systems across Google, Microsoft, and a growing directory of engineering and business applications. Module 3 covers the browser extension, where Claude rides along as you research funding programs, permits, supplier quotes, and regulatory databases. Special emphasis is placed on verifying every number against codes and specifications, admitting uncertainty early, and treating every output as a draft for review by a licensed engineer.
