Transform static spreadsheets, decks, and documents into interactive engineering assistants.
This course brings Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic, inside the three applications where civil engineers already spend their working day: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Using realistic scenarios from the Maple Creek Bridge Replacement Project, participants watch Claude audit, build, and explain spreadsheets while preserving formula logic; draft and populate presentation decks in place; and prepare reports, specifications, and reviews inside the document rather than beside the document. Participants learn how the Excel add in adjusts inputs, runs scenarios, drives native operations such as pivot tables and conditional formatting, and generates narrative documentation of models and assumptions suitable for audit. The course frames Claude as a fast junior engineer rather than an oracle: strong at structure, formulas, and explanation, and always subject to review. Special emphasis is placed on preserving spreadsheet integrity, clarifying ambiguous requests before acting, and treating every output as a draft for review by a licensed engineer.
