It is themed after a book published by the instructor titled Electrical Engineering for Non-Electrical Engineers. In the book, as well as this course, Rauf uses simple analogies and practical, day-to-day examples to illustrate otherwise abstract concepts of DC electricity.
Upon attending this course, participants will be able to perform straightforward and common calculations in the DC realm associated with voltage, current, resistance, circuit analysis, power, service factor, and much more.
Practical examples of DC electrical equipment applications in industrial and institutional settings are covered. This includes discussion on DC power transmission systems, solar PV systems, EVs (electric vehicles), LEDs, DC ESS (energy storage systems), HESS, DC-DC converters, DC mining dragline equipment, diesel locomotives, etc. Applications of electronic DC safety devices are explained and illustrated.
