Individuals often confuse the terms, but they have very distinct meanings. Digitization is the conversion of continuous analog, noisy, and smooth varying information into clear bits of 1s and 0s.Example: Converting a paper report to a digital file such as a pdf.
Digitalization is the social implications of increased computer assistance, new media, and communications platforms for the economy, society, and culture. Example: Analyzing data collected by internet-connected devices to find new revenue streams. Digital Transformation is the implementation of technology, software, and programs to accomplish a procedural outcome with little or no human interference.
This course delves into these terms and how they advance organizations toward true digital transformation. We also discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of each process as well as provide some examples of current software available for these processes.
