Design/Operation & Maintenance/Asset Management

Introduction to Solar Farms is a course that has been designed and put together for anyone who is interested in learning about how photo-voltaic farms are planned, constructed, operated and maintained.Â
The course is useful for anyone who would like to get into this new area of renewable energy and would like to gain some knowledge right from the basics of how solar panels and inverters work to connecting them to the grid and about the monitoring and surveillance of an energized solar farm.Â
There is enough detail to be able to understand how the lifecycle of a solar farm begins and how it is managed throughout its life by the various participants.Â
This course could help someone start a new career in this field, or it could be a stepping stone for someone who is already working in the solar industry but would like to specialize in Operation and Maintenance or Asset Management.Â
I have created this course based on my own knowledge and experience, having worked in the electrical industry for nearly 30 years and working in the solar industry for the last 10 years.Â

I started out as an electrician over 30 years ago and after working in all areas of the electrical industry I began to focus on solar installations. First on roofs and then on ground mounted systems (aka solar parks of farms). I bring many years of experience into this field since I had my own business and also worked for various companies as a Construction/Project Manager and Operations and Maintenance Manager. I have a passion for teaching and would like to share my knowledge with people who care about the environment and who are looking for interesting and challenging careers that are in demand. The solar industry is really beginning to take off and there are many well paying jobs with endless opportunities.
