Dr. Metkel Yebiyo is a researcher and technical expert in Sustainability at Sweden's research institute (RISE). He has been actively involved in research projects related to Heat Pumps, System Integration, Sector Coupling, and Positive Energy Districts. Dr. Yebiyo has played a vital role in establishing partnerships with several international organizations and has been an active ambassador for RISE, networking internationally to disseminate their research area. Before joining RISE, Dr. Metkel Yebiyo was a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Energy Systems and the course director of Building Services Engineering at London South Bank University. He has worked on several high-impact research projects related to sustainable energy systems and building services aspects. This includes supervising PhD programs and co-authoring, authoring, and publishing several papers in conferences and peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Yebiyo completed his PhD on the optimization of control strategies for ground-source heat pumps and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at London South Bank University. He has a vast range of research interests, including High-efficiency heat pumps using pre-heated air supply, Heat Transfer, refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps, Commercial, industrial, and domestic refrigeration, Renewable and low-carbon technologies, Refrigerant leakage and carbon emissions, Heat transfer enhancement using Nano-Fluids, and Waste heat recovery. His contributions to the field have resulted in more than 35 high-impactful publications, including 13 publications between 2021 – 2023, encompassing Journals, conferences, and articles. Dr. Yebiyo is an accomplished academic and technical expert, with significant pedagogical merits in areas like Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, and Heat Pump Engineering, Construction Practice B (Revit and AutoCAD), Heat and Mass Transfer Applications, Integrated Building Design, Internal Environment and Comfort, Lighting and Electrical Systems, Passive Building Design, Sustainable Refrigeration, and Thermal Environment, Acoustics, and Lighting. He has also demonstrated proficiency in various technical skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AUTOCAD, REVIT, TRNSYS, IES, EES, AMTECH, DIALUX, Programming – C++, Visual Basic, MATLAB, and Python.
