Journey through the pivotal era of locomotive expansion and discover how the railway system fundamentally transformed the modern world. "Tracking the Railroads" offers an in-depth exploration of the industrial, economic, and social impacts of the great railroad boom.
The course covers the dramatic evolution of rail networks, from early steam-powered innovations to the massive transcontinental routes that conquered rugged terrains and connected distant frontiers. It examines the monumental engineering challenges overcome during construction, the political and economic forces driving rapid expansion, and the shifting demographics spurred by accessible transportation.
By tracing the historical pathways of the trains, this comprehensive overview provides a rich understanding of how the railroads reshaped landscapes, accelerated global commerce, and forged interconnected societies.
