For each renewal cycle, a licensee must obtain 30 hours of professional development that meets the requirements listed in Section 1380.325 (a) and (c) of the rules for the administration of the professional engineering practice act. There are three (3) core hours and twenty-seven (27) elective hours. The core hours are:

1. A minimum of one hour of sexual harassment prevention training.
2. A minimum of one hour of programs, courses, or activities in the area of Illinois statutes and rules that regulate professional engineers and professional engineering.
3. A minimum of one hour of programs, courses, or activities in the area of professional conduct and/or ethics.

• 15 PDH each calendar year
• 1 PDH must cover engineering ethics
• 4 PDH must cover Life Safety Code, building codes and/or Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines for engineers who design buildings and/or building systems
• No more than 8 PDH can be earned in a calendar day

Nevada requires licensees to acquire at least 30 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) biennially, or every two years. Recent revisions to Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 625.430) require that two (2) of the 30 hours must be in professional ethics and one (1) of the 30 hours must be in the provisions of chapter 625 of NRS and NAC, Nevada engineering statutes and regulations.

Renewal Dates January 1 of odd-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters A through E.

July 1 of odd-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters F through K.

January 1 of even-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters L through R.

July 1 of even-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters S through Z.
