This course provides guidance on design considerations for elevators, exterior-mounted and interior mechanical equipment, and utilities (electric, telephone, and cable TV systems and water and wastewater systems). Protecting mechanical equipment and utilities is a key component of successful building performance during and after a disaster event. Topics: Proper installation of elevator equipment in coastal areas Proper installation of Interior and exterior mechanical equipment in coastal areas Proper installation of electrical, cable, and telephone equipment in coastal areas Proper installation of water/wastewater/sanitary systems in coastal areas Damage Considerations from high wind, flood, and seismic events installation of emergency power sources Protection of wells and septic systems Protection of municipal water systems, and fire sprinkler systems Intended Audience: This course is intended for Construction, Civil, Coastal, Facilities, Mechanical, Electrical, and other engineers whose job description may require a general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system installation in coastal environments.
