About This Course

Engineering failures can have significant consequences for safety, quality, reliability, and project performance. Identifying the true root cause requires more than resolving the immediate issue—it demands a structured investigation process that addresses underlying technical and systemic factors. This practical course explores proven methodologies for investigating engineering failures, analysing non-conformances, and implementing effective corrective actions. Participants will gain practical insight into root cause analysis, technical impact assessments, and corrective action systems that improve product quality, prevent recurrence, and strengthen engineering and manufacturing processes.

Key Topics Discussed:

  • Engineering failure investigation principles
  • Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
  • The Eight Disciplines (8D) investigation methodology
  • Managing non-conformances and incident reports
  • Technical impact and affected-product assessments
  • Where-used analysis and configuration management
  • Design modifications and engineering change control
  • Verification testing and qualification updates
  • Manufacturing controls and process improvements
  • Documentation, traceability, and regulatory compliance
  • Preventing recurring failures through corrective actions
  • Practical engineering investigation case studies
